Longest Night Service — Wednesday, Dec. 21.
December 21, 2022 @ 5:30 pm - 6:30 pm
For some people, it is hard to be joyful at Christmas. For those who are grieving a loss, dealing with trauma, or struggling with mental health challenges, traditional Christmas services and the holiday spirit of others may be difficult to participate in. The Longest Night Service is for those who need a different type of holiday gathering . . . one that meets them where they are. One that offers comfort and hope. The Longest Night Service is observed on the day in which we experience the fewest daylight hours. This service will recognize the darkness we may be experiencing in our lives, the darkness of the world that Christ entered, and the loving presence of God with us, Immanuel, even in the saddest of times. The Longest Night Service is hosted by Hinton Rural Life Center and the local United Methodist congregations of Oak Forest, Hickory Stand, and First Hayesville UMCs.
The service will be held in the Chapel at Hinton Rural Life Center, 2330 Hinton Center Road, Hayesville, NC. All are welcome.
